Found this on Craigs list, with the tranny just being done, what do you all think the odds are of bad flex plate or tourqe converter? Is a 3 hour drive, but i might need a 2nd PSD....
I don't know Tom. I looked at it a few weeks ago and the kid was saying bad trans, but only in reverse. Then called me back and said bad trans, no reverse or OD, and the front end was loose. I think its way more of a project than a driver.
If it's a bad flex plate that broke within a week of his installing the tranny, it might be the bell housing that is machined wrong and you'll have to deal with that or face another broken flex plate.
I don't remember the specifics of how it is fixed, but I do remember that a bunch of measurements have to be made to determine the situation.
I recommend that you call BTS and ask him about that.
Thanks for the input all, sounds like it could be a real mess.
Will have to see how the weekend pans out, still tempted to take a little road trip and poke around a bit, wonder how desperate to sell he is, 2500 in 20's always looks big......
I have a 100 mile head start on you Cody, think I might get there first! Talked to him some, apparently injectors 1 and 8 are out according to him. Still think i will take a peek this weekend weather and time providing, I kind of like the idea of 2 PSD's, besides, the wife needs something to haul the border collies in, yeah, that's it, that's how i will sell it to her, lol
Cody send strokersace a PM, he has a knack for finding these trucks. He just bought a supercab with a "bad motor" that just needed a UVCH plugged back in IIRC.
good luck on the Great falls trip, I was just there last Friday, could have hauled you with me. i will keep an eye out here as well, but 2wd regular cab in MT is about unheard of, lol
This one is an F350 Supercab dually.
I'm taking my friend from DynoJet up there with me tomorrow.
After this Great Falls trip, I will have driven 1400 miles in the last week just here in MT looking for trucks.....I guess I can consider it practice for the 2300 mile journey ahead of me.
I hear you on the 1400 miles, its 100 miles to anywhere here. Took off from Belgrade last Friday morning, picked friend up in 3 forks, off to Great Falls, back to Butte with the saw shop loaded in horse trailer, then back to Belgrade, 420 mile day in 8 hours.....
Edit: an good luck on the easterly voyage, I grew up back east, won't catch me living there again, 20 years in the west has spoiled me. Not a bad place to visit on occasion, but I get the twitches after a week in big eastern cities......
