Well, after searching, and searching.....and searching, my dad finally found a '79 Bronco he decided he wanted. There is a pretty neat story behind this one. A guy that worked in the Ford Plant in San Jose, California special ordered this Bronco back in '78. He watched the truck roll through the plant, and he said he was one of the guys that put the interior in the truck. He said he literally watched it roll out of the plant. Well he drove it to work 6 miles each way every day for 20 years, and then he started to let his son drive it. His son liked it and ended up buying it from him. He put a 6" Superlift on it and some 33" BFG's. He kind of got tired of it and wanted an EB, so he put it up for sale. Dad said he was the first caller and immediately told the guy he would take it. (And i was shocked when he told me this, because he had looked at tons of FSB's and he is VERY picky) Big thanks to Ranger429 for your help and advice!
Anyways, the truck is technically a 2 owner (the father and son). But i would pretty much consider it a one owner, just because that sounds better! It has 54k original miles (i know, none of you believe me), no rust anywhere, 351w, all original everything except the lift, tires, exhaust and stereo...oh and the sheepskin seat covers. And hitch...i think thats all
I know the truck looks too big for those tires, and my dad isnt a big fan of 79's that are jacked way up. So he is taking the lift off this week. I think it will look a lot better at stock height anyways. He said he might put 2" back in it.
Its not a show truck, but i am just in love with it now. The paint is a little faded, there are two little dents about the size of a quarter, and the most notable flaw is the long deep scratch in the passenger door. But right now, dad said he is just gonna drive it to go fishing and cruising. He said he might try to make it a show truck one day but for now he is just gonna have fun in it.
And as you can see, we are starting a collection at the shop. And there is my highboy and a 79 F350 SC sitting outside. No room to work!
Hey- you got most of the story correct, but the bronco was made at Ford's Michigan Truck plant. The guy worked at Ford's San Jose Assy. plant and flew up to Michigan (ford paid his way) to help put in the interior and watch it being built. The guy worked in San Jose Assy. plant in the "interior department" which installed the interiors for the F150's and a few other vehicles that were being made there...this was a "special" ordered bronco, by him...Also, he was the first person to drive it from the "final testing area" to the shipping yard...
The Bronco didn't receive the typical F-series 4x4 decals because it was inherent that a Bronco IS 4x4 and therefore it didn't need the "advertising" to tell folks so. If you find a Bronco with a "4x4" decal or badge it has been added by some owner along the way.
BZZZZ... wrong! I mis-spoke. The mid-80's through 91 Broncos may have had the 4x4 badge on the body filler between the driver's headlamp and the bumper. Apologies for the misinformation.

Reason: I was mistaken... corrected information.
took a couple pictures this weekend with the cell phone. The bronco still needs to be washed and cleaned up, dad has been busy. But here are a few pics...
Here is the old and the new. (dads 79 and my 96 EB)
