I have a quick question. I put 1 can of sea foam in my fuel tank when I had a full tank. about a 1/4 tank was gone, I had to have some engine work done, replaced both heads. While the mechanic had it, he put 3/4 of a can of sea foam in the tank. Now it is running very rough, and I have a misfire on cyl 6 and it is almost stalling at idle. We think there is too much sea foam in the fuel. Would you guys agree?
I don't have a can in front of me but if I remember correctly, one can of Sea Foam treats 8 to 25 gallons of fuel. If my recollection is correct, then that means two cans will treat 16 to 50 gallons of fuel. The 25 to 30 or so gallons of fuel in your tank falls within this window, resulting in the two cans of Sea Foam not being your problem.

Pradon me for being late to the party, but. Now I must know, whats the deal with this seafoam stuff, and where would I purchase this, and when do I know if I need it. Im very curious! What are some of the benefits and drawbacks?

I had a 1990 F-150, 4.9 with 180,000 that was a great truck. It idled just slightly rough but nothing you would notice. I put the Seafoam in the power booster vacuum hose per the instruction and it smoked like a chimney for 10 minutes, but after the treatment, it idled as smooth as a new truck. I'm talking noticably smoother. From what I've read, it blasts the carbon buildup off the pistons crowns, tops of cylinders, and valves resulting in the valves seating properly and a smoother running engine. I put a can in all my vehicles twice a year. They have other products as well, but I've only used the motor treatment. All auto parts chain stores carry it. Check the link........
I do notice that the more frequently I use it, the less it smokes which, to me, indicates its not just a sham. That was my main concern the first time. It does make the entire vehicle run a lot better.
Few tips. If you use the brake booster vacuum line to suck up the Seafoam do it when the engine is cold. If you have a hot engine, it'll die on you repeatedly and you don't want that. Take your time. THe more you suck up, the easier it is to stall the engine. I tend to suck it up in little spurts towards the end. After I drain the entire can, I shut off the truck for an hour or so before I take out for a ride. Usually within 5 miles or so it stops smoking but I like to go at least 10 miles or more just to make sure its completely out of the system.
Its simple and cheap. Don't be alarmed by the massive amount of smoke it pukes out of the exhaust the first time and don't worry about it spitting and sputtering and throwing a fit. It'll work itself out in a few miles of driving and then you'll probably notice how much smoother it runs.
Find your master cylinder, locate the big black round thing behind it. Thats your power brake booster. See the vacuum line that runs into it (the brake booster). Grab it and pull it out. That is your intake manifold vacuum hose.
Some people will remove the hose from the white fitting on the end. I never had much luck with that so I just pull the whole fitting right out of the brake booster. Next I take the Seafoam and I put it in an old coffee mug so that I can lower it down far enough by the brake booster to suck it up with the vacuum line. It'll spit and sputter while you are doing it. Just take your time and if it sounds like it wants to die, back off and let it breathe for a moment. Then continue. When your done, put vacuum line back into the booster, shut off the engine and wait an hour. Start it up, go for a ride. Do a brake stand in front of your neighbors house if you don't particularly like them.. especially if they are outside having a barbecue.
2005 Exp EB 4x4 97k here in socal. I put the Sea Foam through the hose, and didn't get the smoke show. So I guess there was not much carbon build up. But I did put the recommended amount in the gas tank, and did notice a difference. It does idle better afterwards.
