There's no need to change the oil. Just wait until your regular service interval.

I Seafoam both my vehicles yearly. You can go to YouTube and see dozens of videos on how to do it. If you add 1/3 can to the oil (with 1/3 in the vacuum hose and 1/3 in the gas) as many recommend, then I would change the oil within 200-300 miles.

But I typically use near a full can on the vacuum intake of both my Expy and my wife's LS430 (none in the crankcase) so I just continue with the regular OC intervals.

The first time you you Seafoam, you will get huge amounts of smoke especially if you have a lot of miles on the vehicle, so it might be a good idea to do this at night or risk pissing off your neighbors and having some "greenie" calling the fire dept or EPA.

Maybe i wasn't doing it right. I added about 1/8 of the can to the break booster line, and the engine does run better at idle now, but I didn't notice any smoke from my expy. The engine was jumping around from 400-600RPM idle and was sometimes having trouble staying alive while running it around 1500-2000RPM while adding it. I am doing it correctly right?

The Sea Foam instructions call for a 15 ounce can to be divided up into thirds - brake booster, fuel tank and crank case. I'd say you were probably a little light.

1/8 can is too little an amount. On a big V8, I'd do about 2/3 the can, let it sit for 15 minutes then take it for a 10 minute drive.

Well the can actually says ~1 can treats my gas tank(8-25 Gallons), ~1 for my oil, and I didn't read how much it said to put in the vacuum line.

I always do a full can myself in any vehicle I use it on. One in the vacuum line, one in the gas tank. Good to go then.

Check the web site, it will give you the details about the amounts to use if you are going to treat all three areas. Clearly everyone here uses differing amounts in different places.

I've started my first run through with Sea Foam. After 127k of occasional Gumout use I'm hoping for a great smoke show. I'm going into it slowly, 2 cans in the tank right now. After they are through I'll go half of the third can in the brake booster and half in the crank case a few hundred miles before the next change.

I dunno. I personally wouldn't ever stick any crap in my oil, no matter what the product claims.

The first time I Seafoamed a car, it had 101K on the odometer and had received regular doses of f.i. cleaner and still ran strongly, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Since I live in a gated community with silly rules, I was concerned about my neighbors' freaking out when I started the car and the smoke came out, so I waited until a windy night to do the vacuum-line cleaning.

I'm glad I did. I think a couple neighbors might have called the fire department.

On the down side, I was going to videotape the restart and send it to Al Gore, but wasn't able to do that.

My neighbors are used to things smoking in my driveway, and I am in the fire department so I think it will be ok to do it in the daylight. I have a pretty high bar already set for smoke generation by a 1965 B Model Mack fire truck on a cold morning when it refused to start. When it finally caught the neighbors deck was in a haze for a few minutes.

Did the brake booster feeding today. Did it twice, third of a can then two thirds. Got mild smoke the first time which is what prompted me to do it again. More the second time. Does seem smoother. I got a CEL after the second time. Took the negative off for 20 minutes and for now the CEL seems to be staying off. Seems smoother, I've got a highway commute so I'll know more tomorrow. Hopefully stays smooth and the CEL stays away.

Update: The CEL is off, at least in 50 miles it hasn't come back on. I had the plugs done two weeks ago and got a 10% gain in mileage which has proven itself out over 3 tanks. Hopefully the cleaning will also help a bit.

I just dribbled about 3/4 of a can in my 86 4.9 carb, and got every bit of the smoke show, then glugged the remaining in to kill the engine. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then started her up. Ran for a few minutes, then changed the fuel filter. First time I used the stuff, but seems to be working pretty good. Unfortunately the carb needs a full rebuild, but this should do the trick for a little while. If you are skeptical on the stuff, forget it. Go get you some, and use it! Good luck gentlemen.
