It's warming up already, so I installed fleet-style air conditioning on Lurlene. I think it looks a little too chebbie. What do you guys think? I have pics in my profile under "fresh paint''.
Back in the day, when you bitched to the boss about it being so hot in the cab, they would paint the roof white, if they liked you. Joke's on you. Thanks for the compliments, guys. She is VERY photogenic, but I love her just the same.
Thanks , banjopicker.
gangstakr, that truck is sick.
Bill W, You spotted it. I painted the roof wimbledon white to lower the inside temp in the hot sun. I used a matte clear to match the dulled out enamel or whatever they repainted the truck with so many years ago.
garbz2, it does work better at speed, I'm on the hunt for a back slider so I can turn it on high.
Back265, that is one sharp truck, reminds me of my last '66, yellow cab, ford flatbed, highboy, she was big and loud.
OldCrow, the bumper came free with the truck, which was also free. They came with a vintage late fifties tricycle that I picked up for $750. The trash man comes across the darnedest things out on route.
ND, are you referring to the barn door sized radio opening in the dash? I DID NOT start the hole.I would never cut a virgin, I listen to the oldies on the a.m. side on the fancy stereo, too. When I bought the truck it had a groovy Kraco hi-power with the high zoot 3 band eq in too wide of a hole and a broken faceplate. I just cleaned up the po's hack job with mine.
25 Years ago I worked for a trash company, the boss Jess, was a meen SOB. If a driver complained about no A/C, he'd wait until September than have the doors removed. Driver had to live with it the rest of summer. He also had to live with it all of winter. When Jess sold the business there was a stack of doors behind the shop. Needless to say no doors were ever put back on.

What I said had nothing to do with the hole in the dash...Heck, I cannot even make it out. What I can see is the edge of the A/C bezel in one pic.
You named your truck Lurlene. Since I'm a Maritime historian, I made what I thought was an amusng connection inre to the name.
The SS Lurline wad the name of a famous ocean liner that sailed the Pacific from Honolulu to Los Angeles.
Oh, that's a coil of speaker wire that fell out of the dash. It's been tied up. Thanks for the info on Lurline, kinda fits her. She's sturdy, dependable, probably hauled more than just butt, and you'd be a little shocked to see her pull into port.
