Hello I had a few questions. I am in the process of putting together a 1975 highboy. My questions are I want to use a 429 motor. Can anybody give me a list of everything a have to do to make this work and why. Also I was told that I have to purchase special headers for them to fit and somebody else told me i don't, could somebody clear this up. Also i was told I need a rear sump oil pan for this to work is this true? If its lifted would this stuff all clear ok? I have purchases mounts off a guy that were from a 1979 4x4 460. Will these work ok with the 429? Thanks in advance
Ok, so the 429 is part of the FE engine series. The 460 is part of the 385 engine series. Therefore I'm guessing the the mounts won't work, and that you can use 428 headers to make the 429 work. A set of 360, 390, or 428 engine mounts would work, and you'll also need to hook up the engine to a transmission that's FE compatable. Hope you already figured all of this out or went with a 385 series motor. They're cheaper anyway.
