Everything on the truck has been working fine, but last night I go for a drive and my speedometer, odometer, interior cab light and exterior cargo light all quit working at the same time. Instrument cluster, 3rd brake light, headlights, etc, all still work. My first step is going to be to check the fuses and make sure they aren't blown. Anyone have a good step two in case it isn't a fuse?
Sounds like this might be two different problems at the same time.
1. Speedometer/odometer quitting usually means a bad VSS in the rear differential. Did your OD light start flashing? Check for codes and let us know what you got. That'll help us with diagnosing the problem. Pull the VSS and wipe it clean. DO NOT USE ANY CLEANER; JUST WIPE IT OFF AND REINSTALL. If you're not sure how old the VSS is, replace it. If any codes were set, clear them AFTER you clean or replace the VSS.
2. Interior cab light and exterior cargo light all quit working at the same time sounds like a fuse or bulb issue.
Good luck. Chasing electrical gremlins is a PITA! Let us know how this went.

It is a manual, so no OD light to flash. No check engine lights have came on yet either, so I don't think there will be any codes show up. I have to go to Advance today to get a battery for my wife's car, so I will have them run a code check on it while I am there.
My first thought was the VSS (just replaced the one on my 5.0 not too long ago), but when I got to where I was going the interior cab light didn't come on when I got out. I checked the cargo light and it didn't work either, so I thought they all may have something to do with the other. Chances are you are right though, and it's two different problems that just happened to go wrong at the same time.
As an afterthought, sometimes the plunger switch in the door frame can get sticky. Maybe some cleaner on that would help it slide in and out better. If nothing else, it wouldn't hurt to clean them once in a while.

Problem fixed. Turns out the number 8 fuse had blown. It controls the radio, speedo, dome and cargo light. I had the radio turned off, so I didn't notice that it wasn't working either. Thanks for the replies though!
