OK... I have a couple of questions.

1. What Build Date is reportedly the beginning point for PMR's? (Mine is 08/14/01)
2. Can someone provide a link to the thread that explains "How to tell..."?

Thanks

Here's the "How to tell" LINK

Info I have about production dates:

Start of production thru eng. ser. #1425746, sometime in 2001, are Forged Rods.

1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods, mid-year 2000.

1440713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods. These were in 2000 and some 2001.

Starting with 1498319, 2001 up, thru final production run are all powdered.

The reason for the break in serial numbers is a "test" run to be sure there were no issues with the powdered rods.

Once the process was production tested (yeah, let the buyer do the testing) the powdered rod process was used until the end of production.

The only way to be truly certain is to look through the inspection hole.

12 pt. BOLT heads. PMRs.

So there you have it: ~450/1000 on a confirmed PMR motor.

Bummer! Hopefully, the way it's been holding up will be an indicator of a long healthy life span.

Thanks for the links, guys.

I just crawled under the truck to take a peek, but one of my bypass system hoses goes into that port and I don't feel like taking it loose right now. I'll try to remember to check it out when I do my next oil change, which won't bee too long from now.

Had to check for me. I guess 187**** isn't a good indicator of forged rods. Oh well, happy with the HP I have with 80e and stock. Always is nice to confirm, though. Reps given for the serial # posts. Thanks!
