My Best Mod Yet

I just finished my latest mod.I swapped in a 97 Windstar dome light in place of the old useless stocker.I read about this mod on another Bronco forum. It is a direct swap. There are 3 screws that hold the dome light to the ceiling.2 of the screws also the make connections to the power wires.Just pop the lens off, remove the 3 phillips mounting screws. The whole dome light assembly should come right off.Other Ford dome lights should work as well (from around the 97 vintage)but I couldn't say which ones.As long as the 3 mounting holes line up it should work. Finally I have a dome light that actually lights up the cab. These pics reminded me, my interior needs a good cleaning.

Lighting your world...

These lamp assemblies were used in a number of models from the mid 1990s well into the 2000s. They can be found not only in the Windstar as you noted; but also in many Crown Vic/Grand Marquis, Taurus/Sable, Excursion. And, they were adopted as a running changeover in the Bronco/F-Series models during the 1995-96 model years.

You are indeed correct about the better light output compared to the older style - which had been used in various models since the 1970s. I also highly recommend this simple upgrade.

Now that I think about it, it looks like the same dome light that was in my 97 F150. My memory was a little foggy because I got rid of my 97 four years ago and old age is setting in too.

Thats the same light my '95 came stock with.

I wounder if it would work in the rear on the top because that light is not that great.
