Evening all . Had a great day with the kids (son, daughter, and son's girlfriend) 1 old fart and 3 twenty- somethings. WOW. Got some Craig's list goodies and had a fun time. Was also able to find and purchase the magazine with f250 restorer's article in it. Looks to be a good read with great pics. Hell of a note to have to drive almost 250 miles round trip just to find the printed word ( we still use smoke signals and tails by the fire). Well enough for tonight, I'm starting to keep hours like you Don, up at 5 and to bed after 11. Sleep well all. Jeff
So I work graveyard shift..............I go to bed as soon as I get home(7:15am)......The wife informs me that the weather was sunny and warm all morning as I slept.........as soon as I get up at 12:30/1:00.........nothing but pouring rain!............I am going back to bed!
Morning all. Gray and wet here this morning. Yuk.Off to Pendleton in an hour and then to Baker, aren't I just the gad-about? Have a good day. Jeff
And who's great idea was it to route your trip this way? Last time I was over your way Pendleton and Baker are in opposite directions from each other..................
Ya, well, timed appointments, and trying to accomplish something . You know " The best laid plans" type of thing. Didn't work out. Didn't go to Baker. To depressed after talking to USDA in Pend. about cutting firewood. Found out that literaly everything is prohibited on national forest land unless specificaly permited. It is illegal to drive down the road unless that road is; open, rated for a specific type of vehicle, and you are in total compliance with all fed., state, and city laws and ordinances. I AM NOT EXAGERATING! The wording is in the regs. Enough of this %$#@^%$#, this is my happy place. Hope you all had a better day. Jeff

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the "Forest Circus", been there, done that. Those people are a bunch of morons...........Slight change of plans for me. After talking with the 2 logging co's I do work for, they changed my mind for me. I'm now going to build a "chain saw" mill.
I have access to 3-4' dia Juniper logs ( over a thousand acres). I'm building a new mill this winter and they will sell me the Juniper logs for there value as firewood. I can use their landing and log loader to support the mill so I won't even have to go to the woods. They'll bring the logs to me in Condon. I had meetings with 2 "high-end" builders yesterday that said they will buy all their beams etc from me so I already have customers willing to buy my product!
Sounds like a good way to supplement my retirement $$$$$!
Morning all. Don you're the only one I know that falls down and comes up with bills in your hands. Good for you. There's another forum you may be interested in "The Arborest Site". Mostly back east but some out here. Kind of like FTE, although we know nothing could realy compare. Jeff
OK, but you know me. I can't simply go out and buy a comercial built sawmill. I have to build my own, and make it better than anything else out there. If you could only see the machine I see...............
The logger I'm getting the wood from has a contract to remove 1,000 acres of old growth Juniper. Most of it is 3'-4' in Dia, and 50-60'long. They are PAYING him $125/Thousand to remove it! It's a five year contract, so I'll have a good supply of logs.
Morning Jack! I think it will be a good deal. I just got off the phone with a buyer from a wood sign manufacturing co in Portland. They are very interested in buying large slabs for hand carved signs.
