'75 F100 issue

So my '75 F100 ran out of gas on me, and now with gas put in it, won't start....not only won't start, won't turn over.

All that happens is the radio, etc. comes on.

I'm brand new to dealing with this truck, so my knowledge is next to nothing about it.

Any help would be most appreciated.

P.S. - it's been suggested to me, that the gas running out is coincidence, and I need to check the ignition module.

First off, welcome to FTE! Lots of great information in these forums.

Might need a few more details on your problem. Did it crank at all, or just click?
Some of the simple things to check first are the battery connections. It's possible something is loose at the battery itself, or the starter solenoid on the fender (next to the battery), or where the cable connects to the starter.

Hope that gives you a starting point... I'm sure they'll be others along to offer more suggestions...

In my experience, if the ignition module goes bad, the engine will turn over ok, it just won't start.

Thanks for the welcome!

Well, it would do nothing....no clicks, nothing. The radio would come on and the lights would come on.

Now here's the most recent update:

the truck was just blocking my car in the driveway just a little bit, so I pushed the truck back out of the way...oh no more than two feet back...and now it will start?!?!?

Totally bizarre.

Does the truck have an automatic tranny? I bet that the shift lever wasn't all the way in 'Park'. It could be that the neutral safety switch is getting a little flaky. That prevents the truck from being started in anything but 'P' or 'N'. That's a pretty common problem with these trucks.

If you put it neutral to push it back, then put it back in 'park', that might have been enough shift lever movement so it would crank again.
