1986 Econoline 350.

I own a 1986 Econoline 350, its in decent condition and the engine only has 44,000 original miles on it and I have a major PROBLEM! It won't start. The engine is a 7.5L V8 4bbl 460 Engine, carbuerated. No engine swap or anything major, just oil changes and so on. I know for a reason it won't start because my dad left it sitting htere for 2-3+ years after we moved, and he just hasn't had the time to take care of it. BTW, he bought the van brand new back in the days so it's not some lemon or junk i bought. He knows the full history of it. Now that I want it running it won't start! I replaced the spark plugs did a full oil change...even tho I know that isn't enough it still won't run! It starts but it'll die right after.. probly like 5 seconds after it starts it'll die no matter how much gas I give it. I was wondering if anyone out there would know why it won't start and what I can do to get it up and running?

Please respond or email me at mrlee7573@aol.com.
Thank you

Hold the throttle open a little bit, and see if will stay running.. Not wide open, but just lightly press on the gas. In '86 it may be computer controlled. That system really sucked.. It could also be bad gas.

I'd bet on the bad gas.
drain the old gas, save it for the lawnmower.
replace fuel filter, check that plug wires are in
the right locations, see if you have spark and fuel at carb.

look around for loose and cracked vacuum hoses
and electrical wiring and connectors.
