one in a million shot, but i had it work on a 302 i rebuilt....try taking a dishsoap bottle and shooting a shot of engine oil down each cylinder through the spark plug hole...builds up the compression until the engine oiling system can kick in. if you have been trying to get it started, and gas is going in the cylinders but not firing, it could have washed down the cylinder walls and you could have lost compression. just a thought though.
I'm with GoldenDually on this one. If you've got spark and fuel is right then check your timing. I had the exact same situation with my truck when I put in a new ignition, distributor was off 180. I flipped it around and it fired right up.
i've have the timing chain jump when i shut off the engine and it wouldn't start.
you said you just got done "redoing the truck" did that include the engine?
Ivan,
How do you tell if the distributor is out 180 degrees? I am having trouble starting too.
I thought it might be out because the vacuum send is facing the rad...not the engine, thought maybe it should be facing the engine. My vacuum hose curls around and heads back to the engine.
