VSS location for new Nav Unit

I have a post running in the audio session but I have not received a response to this question and thought I would ask it here. Did a search but could not find the answer.

2004 F250 - I'm looking for VSS wire. From my research it a grey/blk stripe wire going to the PCM. I tap in to what I thought was the wire grey/black wire at the PCM but it not reading the correct MPH. When I am driving 60 MPH the GPS on the Nav unit thinks Iam driving 16MPH. Where did I go wrong.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

It would help if you posted what nav unit you are using. Anyway, there's a possibility you have tapped the wrong wire or the unit needs to be reset (can't tell as I don't know what unit you are using!). Here's a link for you....

AVIC411.com • View topic - Installing AVIC-d2 in a 2004 F-250.

verify you are tapped into the correct wire BEHIND the gauge cluster.

It's an Eclipse AVN 5434 I believe, its a older unit purchased back in 2006. currently i am tap in at the PCM. I will look behind the gauge cluster.

Thank you for the help.

If this unit was previously installed in another vehicle you will have to do a reset on it after the vss is hooked up...it needs to relearn the speed pulse for the new vehicle. Check the user manual re: learning strategy for the gps speed pulse / master reset.

Sounds like you have the right wire. The VSS signal goes to many different components (PCM, ABS, instrument cluster, overhead console, 6 disc CD, wipers)etc. It's the same color scheme throughout. I agree with rotun, it's gotta be something in the HU.

Update: That was it, all i needed to do is reset the HD. On this unit it is in the settings under "Tire Change".

Thanks for all the help!
