Hey Everyone... I'm pretty new here... I recently bought a 2004 F150... Long story behind it but I bought the truck for $400.00 & put a couple hundred into the engine to replace some coil packs & plugs... Over 200k on the engine with a new transmission (documented)... Truck is very straight & solid... drives GREAT... Just TONS of miles on it...
Anyway... The one flaw is that the tailgate was replaced before I got it and is a different color (gold-ish vs. white)... I am looking to get it painted & the only thing I can find on the door barcode is "YZ"... Is that the entire paint code or am I not reading it right? I am also wondering what would be considered a reasonable price to have it done...
Here's the paint code location, but I'm not sure it matters. A good body shop should be able to match the existing paint (which has aged and will not match the original anyway).

I appreciate the info... I have never had just a tailgate painted before.. I've been looking at several options including spraying myself depending on shop cost... Any thoughts on what something like this should run?
Just a swag (I don't work in a body shop) but I would say no more than $300-$500.
Call around to several body shops and get phone estimates. Make sure you tell them you'd like to 'get close' to the old paint. It won't matter if they're a little off as the tailgate isn't in in the middle of two large body panels.
