I am looking to buy a powestroke (94-97) but i am not sure what year is better i want no emissions stuff an still have the ability to get add thing like dpi an have choice of tuners an other add-ons also want to stick with a automatic. can any one help me with this?
not sure what you mean by "add thing like dpi" but basically any of those years will do you. if you want an auto then make sure you look for something that has been rebuilt or you will be doing that. the 94 powerstrokes were all sticks i think so you will want a 95-97 and i dont think that any year is better than the next but thats just my opinion. The 97's had 225 horsepower while the earlier ones had 215. With a few minor mods like intake and exhaust though it wont make a difference. As far as no emissions stuff im not sure. someone else would have to give you something for that. But as far as im concerned, just find one that has been taken care of and you will be good to go.
Ok i am new to the whole psd thing i owen a 460 right now so i am lost when it come to the psd. What is a ab split shot injectors? an is that a good thing? if that is a bad this what is the best injectors for power but good mpg?

Injectors control how the fuel enters the cylinder.
Split injectors are a little more efficient and deliver a little more power.
Injectors control the amount of power and the fuel economy.
split shots only came in the cali trucks. And i think if your looking to build your truck, most cali owners go back to single shots for whatever reason.

Splits are not more efficient necessarily, you are wasting part of your fuel squirt for a pilot shot to decrease noise and get a little pre-burn going on to help burn the fuel from the main shot. Split shots are also oil hungry little SOB's, the AB's aren't too bad but the AD's in the Super Dutys are real bad on oil use. Which is why most people go back to singles... less oil needed for the same amount of fuel.
Ok i am going to do a mild build it will be my daliy drive just a vechiel to get me from home to work to play in the mud an race some of those little crappy tunner cars from light to light. It sucks my whole town has bunch of them. What years have the the single shot an what is the aberrations for those? With the split shot with decrease noise u mean exhaust noise cuz that dont matter to much to me i never heard a very quite 7.3L. I was really look for a psd with no smog crap so i dont have to deal with it.
No he means decrease engine noise. they are supposed to make the engine quieter which is what most people complain about with these engines. Only cali trucks have split shots and the years are late 96-97.

What this guy said. All the other OBS PSD's come with itty bitty little 90cc AA injectors. For a daily driver mildly modded truck, I'd go 160cc Stage 2 singles, which can be bought from any number of vendors, you can get a DIY (do it yourself) kit from Rosewood Diesel, or buy a set of IH AC injectors.
So i am thinking a 96-97 would be good for me but between stock split shot an stock single shot what one give more power an more mpg i dont got the money to pay for upgrade injectors the only up grades i would do to this truck right now is programer an thing like cold air intake an exhaust or other thing that dont mess with the engines internals just right yet that will be later down the road.
In my opinion, i would try to find a noncali truck. but thats just me. You will probably be happier that way. then do your gauges, intake, and exhaust and you should have a good daily driver that you can build later.

The Cali trucks make more power because the injectors are bigger. MPG is probably a toss up. Intake, exhaust, gauges, and a tuner would be a good head start. You will need gauges if you want a tuner.
