I have a 89 Bronco II that had both the horn and the cruise control stop working. Both fuses for are good. My wife drives it and I asked her if she smelled anything that was burning like electrical and she did. Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Right off hand I would have to guess the clock spring. It's a component in the steering wheel that is spiral shaped just like a clock spring (hence the name). It basically contracts and expands as you turn the steering wheel left and right, allowing electrical circuits to pass through the the wheel and still be able to turn it. Your symptom is typical of a bad clockspring. If it were a later model vehicle, the airbag light would probably be on too. Good luck, and I hope I helped a little.
