I bought a new TPS from Ed and I'm still getting hesitations when I'm accelerating. The truck seems to run fine under light throttle, but under hard accelerations power seems to come and go. I’ve even notice that when this happens my boost will jump all the way to 28-30 psi when the power comes in but when it hesitates and power goes away it’ll go to 20-22 psi. Fuel gauge seems to stay above 60 psi the entire time. I’ve purchased a new ICP but didn’t install it yet (the old one has oil in the electrical connection), I wanted to see if the new TPS would solve the problem. I’ll install it after work, anyone know what size socket will fit it? Could this also be a sticking IPR? I’ll also check my fuel filter, but it’s been changed approx. 3K miles ago.
The truck starts great, idles good and smooth, don’t smoke, shake nothing out of the ordinary. I’m running out of ideas.
lets see, if your in front of the engine the engine mounted fuel gauge is in the port on the upper right of the fuel bowl and the sending unit for the pod gauge is in the lower left port on the fuel bowl.
My truck does the exact same thing that yours does. I have been trying to fix it for months. The next thing will be tps for me as well. I havn't checked my ICP yet I think i'll do that when I get off work today.
its very frustrating because I honestly don't think it is running as good as it should. when the power decides comes in it really pulls, my grin begins to come back, but it imediately goes away because it don't pull hard.
LOL I didnt even notice! Thanks Glenn. (hows that for fanfare?)
I would look at the ICP next if there is oil in the connector then the signal is not a clean one. Do either of you have an AE? Maybe with some data logging we can narrow down exactly what is going on here. With the hesitation I would swear by the CPS. When the truck "falls" what happens to the boost PSI?
Glenn, does the SES light come on? If so you may have to clear the code before you see any results. I had the same problems with the TPS. I would be driving on the freeway and all the sudden no more throttle, I tried changing my TPS, it still acted up. So the heck with it I just replaced the whole pedal assmbly and got a local shop to clear the code. Knock on wood havnt had a problem yet.
Joe, no CEL but I have my old Superchip I can check codes with. I've replaced the whole peddle assembly. I'll clear the codes and see what happens after work. Its worth a try.
