it isnt very heavy like everyone said its akward... on my 1984 f-250 i had a 8 foot bed on it and i took it off my self..im not a very big guy it took a lot to get er done but, i got er did.
For me it was when I did both. Everything people said is great advice . Impact works best . I welded a nut on to hold bolts from spinning. Soak those bolts well too. Or you will expand your vocabulary,,,,,,,,,
Where i Live (north east) every bed bolt spins in the bed, so i weld nuts to the round head so i can put a wrench on it. Then impact the not off from the bottom.
I have also seen where someone drilled a 1/4 hole in the edge of the bolt head and down thru the bed. They then used a punch in the hole to keep the bolt from spinning .
i just took the bed off of my 97 this past week. Some JERK OFF sprayed the heads of the bods when the rhino lined the bed, and guess what? the bolts spun. I used a 1.5" hole saw and cut the rhino lining from the bolt heads, then welded nuts to heads and held them w a wrench.
I replaced all the bed bolts w some grade 8 bolts with normal hex heads
As for a cart to move a bed, i made this
It is just the right height to work on the bed. And i can also take the bed on and off the cart by my self. I tilt the back end up and let the front corners touch the ground. I then tilt the bed straight up on its front. to put it on the cart is reverse
