Mounting Tool Chest

Mounting Tool Chest
I bought a tool box/chest (the kind that sits on the floor of the bed) off Craiglist. Im not too excited about drilling holes in the bed to mount it, anyone have any good alternative mounting ideas? Its about 56" wide so it takes up most of the bed.
If no one came up with anything creative I think I'm just going to ratchet strap it from moving, since the box itself can lock and I'm looking at getting a Bakflip too (currently have a Leer cap that I want to take off).

You should have strap hooks in the front of the bed, pick up some eye bolts, washers and turn buckles. Run the eye bolts through the side of the box and use the turn buckles to secure it to the hooks.
I've also put them in with riv-nuts and it turned out pretty well, but you do have to drill into the bed to put them in.

Thanks for your ideas guys.
I'm probably going to mount it this weekend. Thinking about putting a 2x4 or 2x6 across the front of the bed (hopefully theres some notches in the bed liner for it that far up) and screw the back of the box to that from the inside. That way I can unscrew it from the inside and take it out if need be, and the whole system should be too heavy when loaded to get stolen.

I installed a loop handle on each end of my box so I can pack it in and out of the truck when I need to. The handles were about $3 each at the hardware store. I then use a bicycle cable run through my box handle and through the bed tie down loop with a master lock to tie it all up. That way I can move the box around for different loads, but it can't be stolen (without bolt cutters).

The most inventive way I've see for bed boxes, like you're talking about, and the regular tool box is high strength velcro. Put one piece on the clean surface of the truck (bed or side rails) and the other piece on the box. It is amazing how well it holds and you'd really be surprised at the minimal bouncing sound some people have with j bolts and such. If you have a bed box like your talking about I do a diaganol pattern about five strips on the bed and an opposite running diaganol pattern about five strips on the box. That way they don't have to perfectly line up. And you can remove the box real easy if you need to.
