Hello. The front crossmember that goes between the two frame rails, right at the suspension towers on my 94 f150 4x4 is cracked. This supports the motor and front suspension brackets and is RIVETED to the frame. It's totaled. And I have no idea what it is called nor does anyone that I've talked to on the phone...including the dealer. Anyone had theirs crack and replaced? Where to find this part!!!!
I don't know the name Engine cradle sounds good, can it be repaired? Got or get any pictures of the damage?
You can bolt in a replacement yea no problem as far as that goes, just use grade 8 bolts. Rivits are cheaper mas production and just as strong so they used em instead of bolts.
Not a fun task, get one from a truck at a bone yard, once you find one, then set to remove/replace it.
Nope be so much easier if you could just repair the one that is in it. But it depends on the damage and where exactly it is.
Well, I appreciate your offer, but to get that sucker where I live (Washington State) it would probably cost a ton! And I'm not sure it even has the same mounting holes as the 4x4 style. I will look into it a litte further tomorrow and let you know. Thanks dude!
No problem, I know I was able to install a 4x4 axle in me 82 2 wheel drive with no problem. Also the cheepest way to ship is grayhound bus.
Any way let me know. I think I am going to start this weekend.
Thanks for the offer of the subframe, but I am going to pass on replacing it. After I got the motor out and took a better look at it, I've decided that it's going to be easier to weld it up and throw some patches on it, as compared to cutting the whole ******* out. This sucker is attached like a tick on a hound dog.
