just bought a1991 f350 7.4 L dump truck. the truck runs fine and occasionally stalls when idling no chek engine light. when i put it in gear and take ny foot off the clutch it stalls. the clutch grabs real high then stalls out supposidly there is a new fuel pump and filter in it. if i rev it real hi dump the cluthch it'll move and not stall. bad clutch? could really use some help need this truck for work and my 89 f250 is totally shot
Your not giving us enough to go on. Simply stating when i put it in gear and take ny foot off the clutch it stalls. and if i rev it real hi dump the cluthch it'll move and not stall.
Yea of course it will stall if you take your foot off the clutch, unless you give it some throttle at the same time?
Sorry this should be asked I guess based on your comments here, first manual transmission? have you ever driven one before?
yeah i'm giving it gas. no been driving manual cars and trucks. its a gas motor. if i rev it a litle slowly release the clutch like your taking off normally it sputters and dies rev the motor to 4000 and release it 'll move you gotta gas the hell out of it or it just stalls out doesn't run right bought it like this truck has been sitting for a year they replaced the fuel pump last year supposidly. would a bad clutch cause this? heard of them slipping never stalling though trying to put it in gear though. any better?

Oh ok yea that helps, sounds like it simply runs weak.
Start with a full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and check/set the base timing.
Check the timing chain for excessive slack while you have the cap off.
Might be prudent to test the fuel pressure while you're at it just to make sure its up to spec.
Yea a good, strong running 460 will take off from a dead stop on level ground in first gear without giving it any gas, if done right that is. Uphill with creeper!
rolled off the flat bed pretty easily.so i don't think so. was just hoping its not a bad clutch never had a car or truck act like that thought the clutch was doing that. wasn't sure still not though guess i'll find out tomorrow morning
