Starting issue

Sometimes my truck doesnt start. It is like the battery is weak but its a new battery. What the truck will do is turn over real sluggish and not start, but then randomly it gets a burst of energy and turns over normally / starts. It very annoying and i want to fix it b/c its already left me stranded in a couple of really bad places. Most recently, i stalled it (its stick) and the truck didnt start in the middle of the road >=[ . Either way, could it be battery cables, the starter... or what? O yea, also the battery cables look pretty shotty, theyve seen better days. do you think that will fix it?

If the cables are questionable, it's definitely worth the $15 bucks to replace them.

Does it only turn over very slowly when the engine is warmed up, or is it completely random? If it only happens when hot, it could be that your timing is advanced too far.
