Dp tuner question

Installed the tuner this weekend. 80hp econ., 60hp tow and 140 aggresive smoke. My question is does anybody run in 140 aggressive all the time? IM a very very conservative driver and planned on using 80hp econ most of the time but after kicking it up to the 140 aggressive I just like the feel of the truck better. I dont hotdog, race or pull anything, just dont want to kill the motor driving around in 140 aggressive even though I'm extremely gentle. It runs just great in the 140 aggresive. Thanks in advance. By the way I have the same question sent off to Jody. Maxx

The 140 agressive is a play smoke tune. You'll be good out of the hole, but flat up top. There's no real performance gains. We don't recommend the play tunes to be used all the time.

On a side note- I had a programming help page on our old website. It did not get transferred to the new site. Sorry about that. I'll get it up on the new site asap.

Thanks for the quick replies. Diane, when you say Dp Tuner does not recommend driving full time does that mean even driving conservatively would cause issues? This is the heart of my question. Will damage to engine happen if driven in this mode even if driven like grandma drives? Maxx

I can't keep you from driving full time in it. I can only not recommend it. Keep in mind, egts will be higher and fuel ecnonomy will be down. This is why we don't recommend it.

Like Diane said it is a play tune not a daily driver. You are dumping excess fuel in order to roll coal this causes the EGT to be higher as well. IMO 80E had more than enough get up and go for everyday driving/ I would never ever use 140A as a daily driver tune, if I want to drive like grandpa i put it in stock.

Well, I drive in my extreme tune 95% of the time. That's on too-big hybrids and PMRs... And I still get as good or better mileage than with stock injectors and "economy" tunes. Apples to oranges comparison however, I know...

I agree with the 80econ way more than enough for me I have the 120 and only used it twice just to try it out it's almost too much Im almost thinking of getting the 60econ for back and forth to work.

I guess its like Jody says all trucks react differently to the tunes. But for me the truck runs much better set in the 140 aggressive. Its feels better starting off and shifts just seamlessly. I love the way it drives. I just did not want to be doing some damage to engine which Im not aware of by running in this tune full time. Its a personal preference. I can "feel" a real power difference when accelerating from a stop sign/light etc. It runs great in 140 aggressive! Maxx

On the dyno, it was worth about 20 hp and 80 ft-lbs. I dyno'ed about 290/600 on 80E and about 310/680 on 120R.

I know where you coming from Maxx, Im in 80E 95% of the time, but 120R feels real crisp on the bottom end.
I use the 120 when getting on the expressway. Most on ramps by me are two lanes-to-one lane bottle necks, and its an all out race most of the time.
