For $1,000 you are intro custom cooler territory... you can probably get a custom rad made, with dual transmission and oil coolers integrated.

Problem with Diesel people is they are far too willing to throw money at the problem rather than to solve the problem with means at hand.
It is not easy to adapt an add on cooler to the coolant flow paths of the 6.0L. You can not just slap any old cooler onto it.

I have been curious about this as well. I just recently got the ability to monitor these PID's and here are my results. I have an '04 250 CC SB with 115k miles. Had the radiator/coolant flushed and new thermostat put on within last 10k. As far as I know it's original EGR cooler and Oil cooler. All of the following numbers are driving normally without a load and sustained speed.

At low speeds (40-55mph) - ECT = 190 and EOT = 202-205

At high(er) speeds (65-75mph) - ECT = 190-194 and EOT = 208-214

Does this seem to indicate an oil cooler job in my not to distant future?

Not to hijack OP, I'm also curious as to what everyone's TransTemp averages are under unloaded conditions??? I was in stop and go rush hour traffic 2 weeks ago with an ambient temp of 81f and saw the tranny hit 175. Is this normal without a load and what do most of you set your alert points on for Tranny temps??

I agree with Bismic. As far as the tranny temp, mine is usually around 155 unloaded, but gets higher in stop and go traffic.

the temperature split is good, never should go over 15 degrees f at normal operating temp. they used a liquid cooler for the egr valve and oil cooler because it is more efficent. though the location of the oil cooler could have been improved. on the new 6.7 the oil cooler is bolted to the side of the pan. at least ford is thinking.

correct ! Thats why the specialty kits are $$

the ones for the 7.3 are easy because of the spin on filter adapter ,, no such luck with a 6.0

Fellas,
I am thinking about purchasing an Edge Insight to monitor EGT, ECT, EOT, & trans temp. Do yall know if an additional probe is required to monitor any of these other than the EGT. Also, based on the discussion going on, what are the normal operation temps of each. Normal operation being an 80 deg day, not towing, sustain speed on flat surface.
EGT=?
EOT=?
ECT=?
Trans=?

THanks, I just trying to collect as much info before i make my purchase.

2005 Ford FX4, 124k miles, dieselsite coolant fitler, APR studs, AFE intake, SCTX3-Dptuned, gauge ?

Are you using the insight? If so, can you get transmission temp? Thanks man for the input.
