She's gone!

Well guys, as a follow up to my last thread titles gunk in degas, I have traded in my 6.0. I was well out of warranty with 148K miles on her, and could no longer justify throwing money at her. I spent 5gs on her last year when a HPOP fitting granaded inside the hpop housing, had to get some new injectors at the same time. Now with oil in the coollant and looking at a few grand more for front cover, radiator, ect.....plus other wear and tear work needing to get done, it was an easy decision when I think whats gonna go wrong next.
I picked up a 2010 Dodge 2500 with the 5.7L gas engine, crew cab, LB 4X4 auto in Silver. Just did it this morning, so no feed back on the new truck as of yet.
Thanks for all your help over the last few years. I really appreciated it. To be honest, the truck never gave me any troubles untill about 120K miles.
Thanks again.
Glenn

Probably not a bad decision, it's just a shame that people purchased these trucks with the intention of keeping them for the long term, but the long term reliability won't allow it... Good luck with the dodge and you'll probably get flamed like the guy who recently unloaded his 6.0 for a Toy!

Good Luck with the truck , I'm thinking about a new 3500 my self. Granted, I make a S*** Load of money working on these 6.0's, I'm Very disapointed on how ford is backing up their warrantes on these engines The FSE's try to weasel out every chance they get, It's like there getting commision on the number of rejections they can generate. AGAIN, Good luck. Larry

Dodge gave the most bang for my buck! They had a truck that fit my needs, they gave the most for my trade in, and I liked the looks and feel of it. Besides, 2010 truck of the year!

Sorry to hear that, but good luck with the Dodge. Keep us posted how its going once you have some miles on it. BTW I don't think I blame you, honestly I have thought the same. I spent $7k in repairs last year, if something else major happens I'm not sure I could justify keeping it ( with 140k on it now ) I love my truck, but I need reliable transportation to get to work, they only put up with vehicles breaking down for so long, and we work shorthanded as it is. If I'm not there, or anyone else for that matter, it just makes it harder on everybody else. Just my .02

You know I for some stupid reason have no fear of this engine and truthfully really like it even with all I know of it.

I am still here with my $50 code reader...

Every trip... if it codes, I just log the conditions etc. and then erase it (to get it out of limp mode)...

And guess what...

I have a pretty good punch list of what REALLY need doing without a lot of bucks when it warms up.

- 1 EGR cleaning / stealth block

- Total car wide electrical plug contact cleaning and lub and seal / with wire inspection

- EBP tube cleaning...

Then just fuel, change oil and fluids and run the sucker!

500,000 miles... here I go!

This summer, I will probably post my rust fix...

And my wiring clean-a-thorn.
