Exploder died
That's what my friend calls his truck. so do get mad at me lol.
Anyway,,, He said he was driving last week, and it died. So he had it towed to a shop, and they said the plugs were bad. He replaced them, I asked if he gapped them and he said he did. Now it just doesn't sound right, he thinks it may have jumped timing. Anyone have any thoughts,ideas I can pass on to him?
Forgot to say it's a 99 4 liter v6

I'd be more inclined to suspect either a bad plug wire or two, he didn't get the wires seated properly, or he used some "fancy" non-OEM spark plug. That is if there isn't some other issue that also contributed to the stalling. The shop may have been saying the vehicle needed a tune up for starters, but may not have been suggesting that was the ONLY issue.

That is what he told me. But now he is thinking that the timing has slipped. He's getting an estimate for the work. If it's under a1000.00 he'll have it done, if not there will be another explorer for sale.
He doesn't want to tackle it himself. He said there's four belts and have to take the oil pan down.

Update. The shop finally got around to looking at it again. They started it up and was clanking so bad they shut it off and called him. They said they were afraid to let it run any longer, and that he needs a new engine, which is somewhere around 2000.00. So i have no idea if he is going to bother with it, and just sell it.

Is it an OHV or SOHC engine? If it's SOHC, it's probably the timing chain/guides which is a major repair. Also, if it's making that much noise, how can he sell it?
