I had the rear window motor changed and the weatherstrip is no good anymore. Its all rotted and falling apart. so I had it taken out. They priced it at the Ford dealer as being $90. Is there someplace that sells it cheaper? It's kind of a felt type strip.
$90.00?!!!!! You have got to be kidding. I bought BOTH inner AND outer weatherstrip when I replaced my tailgate this past summer and the price from Ford for both of them AND the two end rubber pieces was just over $90.00 Tell your Ford dealer you didn't ask for the "insurance company" pricing. You aren't gonna make up for this by jacking up someone's rates.
I bought a set years ago at the dealership for ~$30 each. They're definitely stiffing you. Call another dealer. I installed a JCW glass felt (for a friend who bought it) and it sucked. It was almost as expensive as the OEM. I'll buy some JCW stuff, but not their weatherbelts.
greystreak92: I think your right on that. It sounds like $90 for the pair from Ford.
So what would be the best product? It sounds like JC Whitney's suck so I don't think I want that.
I paid $28.30 for the outside piece on my 89. And that was about 6 months ago from a Ford dealer in a small town about 20 miles away. The dealers that were closer by wanted more, almost double than what the dealer I bought from wanted for the same piece of weatherstripping. So I went ahead and bought it for the doors too. I got the outside rear window and all four for the doors for about $70 bucks.
