Ok so heres what Im looking at! I have a 71 Sport custom with a freshly rebulit 390! Rv cam, bored 60 thousands over, motor works did the heads... Everything interally is new! I have a new holly street avenger 670. And Im having troubles with it . So I wanna look into getting a edelbrock! Just wondering what size I should run? And what model? EDELBROCK PERFORMER SERIES or the EDELBROCK THUNDER SERIES AVS? Any advice would be great!
i have the 1405 600cfm manual choke and i love it. its money well spent. especially if you get the little tuning kit that goes with it that has vacuum springs, jets, and needles.
not sure what cfm u should get. mines totally fine, but sometimes i feel i shoulda went 500 cfm. i have overcarbureted dirtbikes and had them run like poop. bigger aint always better, its the motion !
a buddy of mine had a 76 corvette stingray with like a 1000 cfm double holley demon something or other, and it was like a toilet bowl and everytime u hit the gas it flushed like one and bogged out.
Well I went with a 750 for now! It will give me time to rebuild this holley! She is running good with the 750 now, actually she running really good! Just a little minor tuning for 3rd gear but hell im suprised( im not tuning holley out just yet tho, ill rebuild her and put it on to compare)! Its funny you guys lean towards the 600. But all the auto dealers around here said 750 for sure, The 600 is to small! They say bored and camed 390's are always thirsty! HMM I guess ill find out! Thanks a bunch fellas
Yeah, I like my edelbrock, but when I talk to guys that know they all say that most guys are really inclined to "over carb". Mine runs better (seat of the pants) with the 750 than it did with a worn-out 600 Holley, for what it's worth...
