i tell you what, it's one problem after a nother with these trucks. what i can't figure out though, is why i still love em as much as i do. guess it's a love hate thing... anyways this is what's going on now. previously my gf told me she wasn't able to start my truck ( was not able to turn the key into the on position ) it was a little hard, but usually no problem for me). however the passed three days it's become ridiculously hard. this started when i took the steering column covers off to exam my steering column to fix my gf's truck. what i noticed was that the red and black wire that snap on to the ignition circle were loose. after a close inspection i found out the plastic part that goes over the copper broke off and would no longer stay put on the ignition circle. to me the part didn't seem important as when ever it grounded it's self to the metal on the ignition the beeping of the opened doors would chime. whenever it wasn't touching the beeping would cease. i found this to be a good thing. so i left the deal just loitering around. however now when i attempt to turn the key forward to start the truck it will not budge. i tried turning wheels and attempting to turn the key but to no prevail. the only way I've found the turn the truck on is to pull the key backward to accessories ( some times that too will become stuck) then i have to literally slam it forward to allow me to turn the truck on. this too often fails and have to repeat the process several times to get the truck on. it takes me about 15 minutes each time to get the truck turned on. it's very inconvenient and a hassle. i don't know how important that plastic piece is to the truck and if that would prevent the key from turning. but that's the only thing i could think of. if yall have any ideas, please share thank you.
I was having a problem with my ignition switch also as at time it would get really hard to turn to the run and start and couldn't turn to ACC. I replaced the cylinder and all is well.
where can i find the part at ? it'd be for a F350 i looked online, but it had other parts and wasn't sure which one was which. i saw the lock cylinder and other stuff. if someone could provide a link i'd appreciate it.
