Dead dash gauges and more...
Having an issue today. It started yesterday when I was driving and I noticed that my dash gauge cluster doesn't work. Having turn it off and on a few times here is what I can tell does and doesn't work. The battery light, and the blinkers work. But the gauges themselves, the wait to start light, the check engine light all don't come on. Even the odometer isn't rolling over right now. :/
I let the truck sit overnight and I noticed a bit more in the morning. When I turn the key for the plugs and wait (even though the light doesn't come on to wait) I noticed that all the little engine sounds that usually start happening at that point are all absent.
So then after a bit I started the truck, and the throttle pedal didn't work. Put the foot down on the gas and got nothing. It wasn't until I sat there with a terrified look on my face for about 5 minutes that part of it just suddenly started working again.
I have zero clue on what to do about this, so any input would be great. I have a feeling that a simple set of gauges not displaying is not the root of my problem here, and that actual import stuff isn't working. (Like my glow plugs are never even coming on, etc) Any help would be great! Thanks!
(Another thing I noticed, which I thought was strange. Normally you open the door with the truck running, nothing happens. But open door with keys in ignition but truck off, it beeps like a psycho at you. Well last time I drove it after that pedal issue. When I went to get out, I opened the door, and it beeped like a crazy person at me even though the truck was still on. Like the truck doesn't even know that it is on...)

So I went and checked, and sure enough fuse 19 is blown to hell. But now the real interesting question, how did the pedal eventually start working with that fuse blown? According to the schematic in that post it couldn't, but it must route through more than one fuse? Weird but, I've seen weirder.
I'm going to replace the fuse then rip the steering wheel column apart next change I get and inspect the O/D wire. Hopefully once the new fuse goes in (and the wire eventually inspected) that is the actual problem. Huzzah!
