fuel pump variation

i think there should be a huge difference but just to make sure.... there is a difference in the fuel pumps between a 94 7.3 non turbo and a 95 power stroke right?

if i had a 94 IDI diesel truck,i would always ask for 93 parts and keep it simple.
so as to avoid parts counter people mistakenly handing you PS parts.93 parts will be the same always.PS parts will never be.less its oil filter lol.may be other things too,but i dunno what they'd be.

I'm not sur what the 95 stroke has, but I was thinking it was electric.
Like f250 says always tell them 93 as 94.5 they changed to the stroke, and it seems the run of the mill parts man any more has a little trouble telling the difference between a briggs and a cummins, much less 3 different engines for a one year period in the same application.

If you are talking lift pumps, they are way different. The idi looks like a gasser's fuel pump and mounted on the side of the block. The stroke's lift pump resides in the valley on top of the engine. The idi has an injector pump, while the stroke has none, as the injectors are fired by oil pressure. That is one advantage the stroke has, if you lose oil pressure the engine will shut down before damage is done to the internals.

It's just a fact. lol when the stroke first came out change the oil was the dealers answer for what ever ailed them. It was kinda comical.

Star, it's funny what you say about the part's guys today because a few weeks ago I went to check availability on some stuff at one of the ford dealers in town and the part's guy told me that there was no 6.9 IDI in 1986. He said that from 86 and on was the first generation PSD! I just laughed and walked away......

an IDI has a mechanical lift pump on the side of the block.
a powerstroke has an electric low pressure fuel pump in the fuel tank
