not sure but my hood won't open when i pull the tab in the cab and when i flip the lever between the grill. it won't release or "pop".
when i pull back on the release it feels like tension like its still attached. never had a problem with it ever. infact it was probably too loose because once i pulled the tab all i had to do was lift the hood open without the lever but not any more
A good cleaning and lube usually rectifies this issue. Use powdered graphite instead of lithium or petroleum-based products. This will help prevent the mechanism from getting sticky in the future.
You should have to pull the internal release, then pull the external lever before the hood will fully release. The secondary catch is to prevent the hood from flying open on the road if the internal release is inadvertently pulled.
greystreak i know all of that already and i use to open the hood regularily. all of the sudden one day it just decides to not open, the initial pop or click when pulling the internal release.
Yeah, I understand what you are talking about. I had the same issue with mine for a while and the "cure" until I cleaned and lubed the latch mechanism was to pull the internal release then go out and push DOWN on the hood... This typically re-latched it fully but when I pulled the release a second time, it would pop up as expected and I could then release it the rest of the way from outside. The company E-350 I used to drive did the same thing for a while but the latch had gotten so bent from other people screwing with it that we ended up replacing the latch assembly.
