Question Hood won't open.

I can't open the hood of my "new" '95 Bronco. The handle inside the truck won't release the latch. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd look under the dash and make sure that the cable isn't broke. When you pull it can you hear it unlock the latch on the hood?

If the cable is broke....take a look through the grill, and see if you can grab the cable from there with a pair of needle nose....you will have to grab casing and all and give it a pull to the left side of the truck, or your right if your standing in front of it.

No, the cable does nothing. It has too much slack. I'll try the needle nose pliers through the grille.

It might feel like it does nothing because its already unlatched, and the hood just isnt comming up. Have someone hold the hood handle out, and go to the hood and hit it with your palms, see if it pops up. Just a thought......................Drew.

Ditto, chrono4 has it pegged. The latches tend to get sticky after while and if the hood has ever been off the truck or gotten tweaked a bit, the initial release mechanism (cable release) still works but the hood doesn't always pop up. The "smack with your palms" trick is pretty common actually. Once you get it open stuff the contents of a tube of powdered graphite into that mechansim. I avoid the use of petroleum-based compounds up there in front where they do little but catch all the crud blowing in under the hood.
