TIMING ADJUSTMENT

Place transmission in Neutral or Park with A/C Heater in off position.
Plug vacuum hoses from the distributor vacuum advance connection at the distributor.

Connect an inductive timing light.
Connect a tachometer.

If equipped with a barometric pressures switch (ignition module 12A243), disconnect it from the ignition module and place a jumper wire across the pins at the ignition module connector (yellow and black wires).
Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature.

With engine at timing rpm, check or adjust initial timing to specification. See: Specifications
Unplug and reconnect vacuum hoses. Remove any jumpers from ignition module connector and reconnect.

Hey texaskid...this is a really helpful post, thanks!

If you are needing to set it to 8° BTDC that would mean the marker would need to be on the 8° mark to the RIGHT of TC. Is that correct?

Yes, that's correct, assuming you are standing in front of it and looking at it from that
vantage point.
