does anyone know anything about the upgrade to arc welders to to weld panels as thin as 22 gauge metal it hook to your ac output arc welder it is sold by eastwood

 

I've kind of wondered about that myself, being a welder for the army I keep getting told not to waste my money on it and just get a TIG welder but I'd still like to find out more about it especailly since TIGs run $2-4k

 

I bought one of their carbon arc spot welders and felt lucky that it sold on ebay a few years afterward. I guess the word still wasn't out yet that they don't work well. I think you'll likely find the same thing with the stitch welder.

 

Ya know...I always wondered about those gadgets...
...seemed like "snake oil" to me...

As much as I love to TIG weld....I do not want the cost associated with
the entire process.....

Have ya ever tried gas-welding sheet metal? It's eaiser than ya think...

With a nice little gas-ax and a MIG... you "should" be movin' along in no-time at all...

My ol' 120V Snap On YA219B MIG does have a stitch setting...but I do not use it much....still...it IS nice to have the option.



I can adjust the "stitch" time as well as the "hold" time in-between the welds....for cooling I guess......

Kinda kool when ya think about it......

I got it used after an eBay auction got ZERO bids!

I emailed the dude and went to try it out about an hour away from my home...ha-ha...MINE...around $200.00 or so...maybe 2-years ago...no bottle.

Picked up the bottle even closer...2-miles away....75/25 mix FULL $75.00!





The little gas-ax...20+-ft of dual hose...cart,torch-handle, gauges,etc.

...same senerio....older gentleman, retired...his name is "Wolfgang"...

...man...this cat was a "trip"...$150.00.. I think...bottles full...
..couple pairs of flip-up gogles...about 12 or so strikers..."box-o-stuff"...

Oh ya...MAPP-gas/Oxy set-up....I'm STILL tryin' to kill the fuel-gas...

Nothin' wrong with a used tool......

I also got the spot welder which attaches to an arc welder it didn't work for me either. I got a flux core welder for less than $200 and that's what I've been using for years with great success, I just recently made some wheel tubs due to my tires rubbing the new bed side.

 

thank for the info think i will steer clear of the unknown waiting for part for the mig have bottle of gas 100%
