i was poking around on my 77 super cab today. i bought it about six months ago and it's been sitting waiting for me to start on it. i knew it had some rust but jeez. i started picking ayt the paint and bondo and found this.
this is why you don't just slather on bondo over bare metal!!!
all this was hidden under the bondo.

under the same spot.

so lets see some before and after pics. i need motivation!
not as bad as most out there but still pretty rough. the 76 f150 in my sig is in worse shape underbody wise than my f250 is. the cab mounts are so rotted out the floor pans are resting on the frame
Mine's likely not the worst, but it's not great... I'm not done working on it yet, though.
The left side of the box was nothing but rust holes. When I drove it down to my dad's house from where I bought it, the entire side of the box was waving at my dad who was following me.
The PO had already welded in new floor pans, and put in a piece of metal for the bed floor. That musta been quite a while ago, given the condition when I got it. Also, not pictured, the cab corners are shot, along with the back side of the floor, right next to the back of the cab.
This is as far as I've gotten in repairing the issues. First I cut the right side of the box off with a skill saw, then was able to do this.
I've got you all beat!
Here's mine!
No, But these guys got it bad:
I started a whole FTE album for rusty dent-sides, You can see it by clicking view albums.
If ya want your truck added to it, PM me.
those trucks look like they've been like that for a while.
i plan on having mine done by the end of summer.
i gave up on the bed thats on there. already picked up another one. it was in a little better shape than the one i had but not much. I'm still replacing the bed sides and floor.
here's what I'm doing with the floor.
bassdude, I feel your pain - someone did the same thing to my truck...
This is the right-side wheel arch - the hole wasn't this big until after I started removing large pieces of filler-covered rust - the only thing holding it together was the trim...
This area is on the left-side, to the rear, by the bumper. It was covered by a thin layer of filler but it was starting to peel away from the rust (go figure) - I cleaned off most of the filler and acid-treated the rust then I primered and painted over it to try and seal it until I can get back to it later and grind it down
I guess my camera decided to make my truck blue lol... It was kinda in the shade when I took these...
I have a spare cab and some great new front fenders, and I'm going to start restoring this thing soon. It has character though Part of me wants to leave it the way it is. I've had a lot of people try to buy this from me. It runs like a top!
i forget what thread it was but there's a guy on here who just bought a dent with no roof. the truck ain't in too bad of shape but the roof rusted right through, never seen something like that before
I think I may be in the running for the worst rust that got fixed. Just take a peak in my profile at my truck pics and decide yourself. I had to replace the entire roof, fenders, hood doors and repair the floor. This proves anything can be fixed if you want to bad enough.
