I have a 79 bronco when I am turning it over it will start firing and when I let go of the key it dies. New ignition switch, tumbler and solenoid. Need Help!!
Did you replace the actual ignition switch, which is located down on the steering column under the dash, or just where the key goes in? If not then that's your problem. If you did replace it are you sure that the rod is positioned properly?
79 Broncos don't have a column mounted switch or linkage rod either.
Being that you have already replaced the electrical part of the switch the most likely cause is the ballast resistor . This resistor is actually built into the wire from the ign switch to the coil and you can get at any parts store .
