I get my shudder at around 45-60 mph while rpms are low in od and 3rd while trying to slightly accelerate. does it consistently. No check engine light and just had tranny flushed to trouble shoot. Any one have any Ideas
Had same problem develop the other day 2 weeks after having passenger side head gasket replaced (another story)! Anyway, I had been smelling antifreeze so I popped the hood and looked back at the heater hoses and saw antifreeze leaking and puddling up on my back coil pack. It felt like the truck was driving over rumble strips whenever I hit the gas in low RPMs going around 50MPH or more. Took it back to dealer and they fixed the hose clamp and replaced the coil pack. Problem gone. Never would have thought it was that if I hadn't read it on here and looked. Hope this helps.
Do you have individual coil packs for each cylinder or do you have a 4 pack in front of each valve cover. I have heard a bunch of folk talking about coil packs causing this problem I am trying to narrow it down. I have the 4 pack in front of each valve cover on my 4.6 99 expedition.
A lot of people have had the heater hose clamp problem. Very common situation on the 5.4. The cheap clamp on the heater hose allows coolant to leak on the coil pack thus eventually damaging it. Jake.
