my truck idle went bad very quickly for no reason so i pulled theses codes with my superchips programmer today
-camshaft pos sens circ interm (bank 1/1 sens)
-turbo boost sens A circ perf
-exhaust back pressure sens circ low input
from what i've read on FTE i wneed to replace my cps. my question is are the 2nd and 3rd codes a result of the fauly cps or are they seperate problems i need to address?
ok thats good news. are theses other two codes something that needs to be fixed. i also just put a new exhaust and down pipe, wondering if that is the culprit.
so, i replaced the cps this afternoon, and the truck still won't idle, and i do get tach movement before the truck dies. although i am glad its replaced, the o-ring was completely worn out, gives me a bit of piece of mind and will i chuck the old one in the glove box.
when i get home i will pull the fuel heater plug as i have read and see. any other ideas?
i pulled codes again and just got 'exhaust back pressure sens circ low input'
don't know about those two codes, but I recently had terrible idle that went bad real fast, then no start. one problem was the cps, and the other problem turned out to be a bad wiring harness to the glow plug/injectors (the wires run through the valve cover gasket).
ok thanks, i'll test the wires under the valve covers in the next couple of days. also found a sensor that was broke off on the side of some sort of block that is between the a/c pump and the altenator. looks like there is carbon on the end of the sensor, the tubing went somewhere towards the bottom of the engine as far as i can see. not sure exactly what it is(although i am pulling an exhaust back pressure code, could be it). will change it and carry on from there.
depending on your configuration, taking the valve covers off can be a pain. start by tracing the wires to the harness - that's where my problem was - before you actually take of fthe covers.
ya, doesn't sound like too much fun. i'm going to unplug both wiring harness' to the valve cover and do some continuity tests before i go any farther. its pretty cold out right now, lumming etc. is just breaking off. going to wait for a couple days when its supposed to warm up a bit, maybe get a heat gun for the harness plugs. will let ya know how she goes.
well it finally warmed up yesterday, and i definatly have some injector wiring problems. pass. side rear male plug that connects to valve cover has one connection melted away. so, away she goes to the shop.
thanks for the help, will post what it was if anything unusual.
yeah that is a glow plug pin, mine went bad also, but I caught it early enough I cleaned it and it works. More than likely you have a pin for an injector that is bad, the three middle pins are injector pins on the valve cover harness.
finally got my truck back on the road. under cover harness and one harness on top replaced. also got them to check my fuel heater as there was no plug on the end of the wire. it was shorted out so that got replaced as well. i did the cps a couple weeks ago, so hopefully i should be in good shape for a while.
on a side note, they replaced both valve cover gaskets, holy man those things are expensive!!!! $120can a piece !!! a buddy of mine didn't believe me so he phoned napa, and with his company discount it was still about that price.
oh well, guess you gotta pay if you want to play. better start haulin some stuff this summer to earn its keep. still glad i bought it tho, think for the price you can't beat em.
