You could have an injector issue. Before you jump to that conclusion, I would recommend a few things. Having poor fuel flow can cause poor combustion and show up in other areas.

First - just for grins, load test each battery - just to make sure this system is healthy.

Second - check your FICM voltages (procedure is in the Tech Folder).

Third, are you runing a synthetic oil and do you have the most recent flash update from the dealership? If not, get them, they help resolve the "stiction" issue.

Fourth - if you still have your EGR valve, I would pull it and see what it looks like. It can get bad and stick when you have combustion issues.

This all may seem like a PIA, but it is better to do these things before spending some much bigger dollars on injectors.

Good luck and thanks for the compliments on the spreadsheets.

Ok, I took the batteries in this morning and got them load tested. They both checked out ok, just a little low on charge. I brought them home and gave them a good charge and then put them back in the truck. I checked the FICM voltages, and they were: 48.1 with the key on, 44.3 after cycling the key (during the injector buzz), and 48 when cranking. The only low one was the check during the buzz. I am running motorcraft synthetic I want to say 5w40, but I dont remember for sure. Im not sure if it has had the flash done, I havent owned it for very long. Is there a way to check that? My friend had a snap-on solas scanner that weve been using, didnt know if that would show up anywhere on that. I pulled the egr out a few days ago, it was pretty gunked up, so I cleaned it up real good and put it back in, but I left it unplugged. I noticed today, also that the alternator was getting what seemed like too hot. Im not sure how hot they usually run in these trucks, but after running for about 10 minutes its almosttoo hot to touch. Im wondering if this might have anything to do with the battery charges both being low. Hmmm.

Check the wires for corrosion - including the ground wires. If you do not find anything, you could have an issue w/ that alternator. Keep us informed.

I checked all the wiring and grounds that I could find, everything looked good. I also rechecked the voltage at the battery, and its holding a steady 13.9 volts, going up to about 14.5 when I rev it up. I unplugged the #3 injector (the one that threw the code) and there was no difference in the way it ran. Will it hurt anything else if I run it with a bad injector? It will be a few days until I will have the time to change it, and I have a lot of crap I need to haul off from the house (wifes getting fed up with it all) . Would leaving it unplugged help any?
