Alright, after asking a couple of questions on the forum, you guys talked me into it! I just ordered a STX Supercab 4X4, grey, with the power, decor, and plus packages. I'm going with the 4.6 2-valve with the 3.73 limited slip axle. This will be my everyday ride, and that doesn't include hauling horses or huge boats, so I think the power will be OK.....certainly a step up from my '93 Ranger (which will cause me to shed a tear when I sell it). Anyway, thanks for the input concerning the room in the Supercab and the axle ratio options.
sounds like you just ordered my exact truck. I think you will be very happy with it. I know a lot of people will dis it because it's a 4.6 2V but like me i use it as a daily driver and not a hauler, so it does quite well for me. I must add a 50 series flowmaster exhaust makes it sound pretty mean if that's what you are into!
I just picked up almost the same setup (flame blue) - my first truck (not counting an Escape XLT with about 168,000 mi) and daily driver too. Added a hitch receiver, but will only do light towing (not over 5K lbs). The 4.6l 2V seems fine to me - drove a rented 5.4l and it was nice - more power of course and snappier shifting - but didn't want to pay the extra cost (hard to find without being wrapped in more options). At about 1600 miles I'm getting (calculated) just over 17 mpg - computer is optimistic at 19-20mpg. I love the ride - smooth, quiet, firm steering and brakes. Nice sound too when it's headed to 5200 rpm to get the 2-3 shift! Enjoy
