when you close the tailgate it hits a round drum w/ plastic around it. i dont know what they call but i cant find a true parts break down to locate it. when it wears out the tailgate bounces on back roads all i need is the plastic.

 

I think it's called a tailgate striker??And it looks like one piece.I don't think you can just get the plastic bushing seperately, it looks like you must replace the whole striker.
One thing that is a PITA is most Ford parts places online don't give out part #s anymore that's why it doesn't show the part# where I copied the listing from Tasca Ford (below). I was in the parts dept. at a local Ford dealer one day and the parts guy was on the phone with a customer.Apparently the customer didn't like the price they quoted him on a part so he was trying to get the part# from the Ford parts guy so he could check prices elsewhere.The parts guy wouldn't give out the part#.He said part#s are money.

thanks i will call the dealer this week. i looked some more and i think its called the striker roller but i will find out soon (cant stand the damn rattle)
