Where to purchase a tailgate plastic cap for 2008 F250?

I need to replace the tailgate plastic cap (not sure what it is called) on my 2008 F250. I have searched several Ford OEM parts website but cannot find it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also, I am open to purchasing a gently used one if someone has one

Many thank!

I bought mine from the dealer, wasn't overly expensive I don't think. that is your best bet, if you have a dealer near by

I just went in and told them I needed the black plastic tailgate cap, you can get them in tan as well since that is what comes on the King Ranch trucks.

Part # 8C3Z9940602AA $37.53

I suggest to put some screws in the plastic cap or those cheap plastic clips will break off and the cap will blow off. I say this because this has happened to the 2nd plastic cap I put on but I noticed it coming off before it blew away.

Thanks Scrap. Perfect!!

May I ask where/how you found the part number so that I don't have to keep bugging forum members when I need a part.

I just went to the dealer, my first one broke off when dragging the snowmobile off the bed. You can use the search at the top of the forum but sometimes it takes a couple different tries to find exactly what your looking for and sifting through alot of threads.

My 2005 has Part # 4L34-9941018AGW. I'm looking for one too. Half the clips broke on mine pulling baseball gear in and out.

If you still have the cap just drill 4-6 holes and attach it with screws.

It's $29.18 from Silverstatefordparts.com if your local dealer decides to charge well over MSRP like many of them do.

LMC carries it too, simply calling it Tailgate Moulding.
It would appear that the dealership offers a better price, though.

Where did you drill holes, on the top part of the tailgate? And how is the plastic cap originally attached? Mine has definitely gotten looser, but still has enough hanging on to keep it from lifting off the tailgate.

It's not easy to see but if you look at the top edge of the Tail gate all the hole are where the clips from the plastic molding insert into. When you lower the tailgate with the new plastic edge piece in place just put the screws along the inside edge. Never had another problem of the plastic piece coming off.

Thanks I'll give it a shot!
