need help with7.3 powerstroke

Was driving and the truck started vibrating, because the engine was losing power, and then shut off. No check engine light. Ran a scan on it, had icp to high/low code and cps code. Changed the cps and put a new fuel presure regulator ion it. Now it starts but has a rough idle and is skipping bad when you give it the throttle. Has white smoke coming out tail pipe. Any advice will be helpful.

Btw. I have cleaned the filters in the fuel tank, and replaced the fuel filter

Unplug the electrical connector on the ICP sensor, then crank the truck and see how it runs. This test will remove input to the PCM from the ICP sensor, and force the PCM to "guess" at oil pressures. If the truck runs better with the ICP sensor unplugged, then the sensor is bad.

The sensor is located on the driver's side oil rail, just behind the alternator.

Pocket, I tried it. Truck would start to fire off then shut down.

I have been told that the oil could cause this. Is this true? The truck has had only rotella in it for the last 8 years.

How heavy is the white smoke? Your injectors fire off of engine oil, so yes this can be oil related. Is your oil full?

Why did you change the fuel pressure regulator? Did something make you believe you had low fuel pressure?

Don't know why I said fuel presre regulator.
This is what I changed. ICP regulator, because it throwed a icp code.
Changed the CPS because it throwed that code.

Truck now starts, but has a very ruff idle and skips bad when giving it throttle. Has light to heavy white smoke when giving it throttle.
No check engine light.

Truck has a bully dog chip, Air intake system, and turbo back exhaust.

Which one did you replace exactly? There's an ICP sensor, and there's an IPR (which is the actual regulator).

The ICP simply reads oil pressure, and sends that data to the PCM.

The IPR is what actually regulates the oil pressure. The PCM see's current ICP, looks at throttle position and mass fuel desired, then adjusts the duty cycle for the IPR to increase or decrease oil pressure.

As I mentioned before, the ICP sits on the driver's side oil rail behind the alternator. The actual IPR sits on the back side of the HPOP.

If you've unplugged the ICP and it still runs bad or won't start, then looking at the IPR duty cycle in conjunction with the ICP can tell you a bit about what's happening. If the IPR is bad, duty cycle will be commanded to increase or decrease, but it will not respond. If fuel pressure drops, you'll see IPR duty cycle jump around quite a bit.

I replaced the IPR. Took it to ford and they put it on the computer. Its showing a miss in cylinder #8, which he thought could be cause by a injector or valve cover gasket. Still have no check engine light.

These trucks will often have #8 fail the cylinder contribution test. If you've got a recall CPS, #3 will sometimes fail too. It's considered normal with these trucks. If you have no other symptoms than the computer says it failed, then ignore it.
