My backup lights don't work. The fuse is good and the bulbs are good. The wires going into the bulb sockets look good. I would like to fix this problem myself and about the only thing I would know how to do is change the backup light switch. I don't know where to locate the switch. Can someone tell me where the switch is at and if there is anything unusual I should know about replacing it. Thank you.
Before replacing the switch, find all your ground wires and make sure they are secured. You'd be suprised how something that simple can screw everything up.
Thanks for the reply. I've never done much electrical work before. Do I just try to follow the ground wires from the bulb towards the front of the truck? I assume the ground wires are the ones with the stripes on them? Nice looking truck, by the way.
I just did this Saturday. I have a 79 with A/T ,and the neutral safety switch is on the drivers side where the trans kick down linkage is. I don't know about the M/T transmission.Remove the nut and slide the kick down linkage off.The NSS is behind that, looks like a half moon sort of. Slide it off and disconnect the plug under the hood at the back of firewall near top of cowl. After the drivers side worked ,but the passenger side had a bad socket so check everything like grandmas said.
