It is definitely a nice one today... I finally got the right belt for the mower, third try on that... the other was so shredded it was difficult to get the right length from it...
Found a ZF 5 speed that will work in my 86, thinking strongly of getting it. Still need to get a flywheel and clutch assembly, but that is only about $400 usually for the Luk solid conversion.... the trans is only $100 here locally... downside is that I just put a new clutch in it about a year ago... no longer would be useful with the conversion.
I wish I could adapt a 5 speed for my 67 onto the 390. I know they make adapter plates, but I'm told they cause problems with the clutch and input shaft.
I'm sure you would need to also have some kind of spacer to move the flywheel back, which then probably wouldn't support the front of the input right... hmmm...
Well, I would be pulling a T19... however, it is 4x4. Until my dad gives up on the 2wd, I can't get rid of that one. Now if I were to not rebuild the 77, there would be a 435 or whatever those transmissions are... You could always try to pick up an add on overdrive unit. The Gear Vendors unit that I took out of the Dodge donor for the 92 is divorced, made for a lot easier install.
I do have that case, but would likely keep it in the truck. Also have a whole other truck I can take it from as well. Just a matter of parting with it, but then, I haven't wiped out any t-cases as yet over all the years I have drive, short of the 203 in the old 75, but 4.10 up front and 3.73 in the rear can do that...
