Early 99 Glow plug system question
New here and I am looking for a little help and wonder if anyone here has fixed this same problem as I have.
Truck is a Calif. early 99 with the glow plug relay and shunt going to each bank of glow plugs. I am getting the P1396 and sometimes the 1395 codes. Truck starts fine and I find voltage when the relay is activated around 11.5 or so at the hot side and switched side of GPR is about .2 volts less and about a half volt less on each of the shunt.

Glow Plug Current left and right most of the time won't show anything with just key on. When key on and GPR activated and engine is started it then shows 50 to 60 amps equal on both sides; normal reading it seems and no code thrown. Sometimes usually when truck is started and moved amps go up to 250 usually only on one side and code is thrown. Some times the high amps just flashes or sometimes stays at high amps until GPR times out normally. This is a pattern but it won't do it every time, it is getting more often though. While reading AE with changing amps a volt meter will show constant voltage everywhere making me believe GP's are working normally and getting good voltage but the test system is acting up.
I have replaced GPR, shunt, valve cover gaskets, under valve cover harnesses and all 8 GPs. I can't tell for sure but all 3 fusiable links seem OK. Also replaced the ring terminal on middle pole of shunt as when hot it felt loose but when cut off it was fine but got replaced anyway. Shunt gets very hot and made ring terminal feel like it could have been melted.
Anyone with any ideas?
