2006 F-250 tires on stock wheels

I just bought a 2006 F-250 Crew Cab short bed with the 6.0L Turbo Diesel. I added a bug shield and rear mud flaps to it yesterday. Man, what a truck!

I would like to know if a set of 33"x12.5" LT17 tires will fit on the factory wheels. I'm looking at some Mickey Thompson Baja Claws.

Thoughts?

Oh, and here's my tuck.

Your OEM wheels are 17"X7" in size. MT recommends a wheel width of 8.5"-11.0" for the 33X12.5R17LT, which is "D" rated at 2,600 lbs. Some will tell you that it is ok to mount these tires on your wheels... others will say look for another tire and/or wheels.

The Baja Claw Radial is an aggressive tire... what made you select that tire?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking would be the case. Where did you find the specs regarding wheel recommendations from MT?

Because it's super sexy the way they moan when they're going down the road.

I'm looking to add a couple of inches to the overall ride height without adding a lift. Any other tire suggestions?

I found the spec's at MT website (see link below). I purchased two sets of 40X13.5R18 MT Baja Claw Radials last year when MT discontinued that size. I too love the aggressive look and performance of that tire.

BTW, what tire size is currently on the truck?

Let me do some research on what tire size will work with your 17"X7" wheels...

If you want to keep the 17"X7" OEM wheels, I recommend the following sizes:

LT285/70R17 - 32.76" Tall - 11.5" Wide - Recommended Wheel Sizes 7.5"-9.0"
LT285/75R17 - 33.86" Tall - 11.3" Wide - Recommended Wheel Sizes 7.5"-9.5"

Both of these tires will fit your truck without any lift. Your wheels would just be out of spec... I found these spec's at Nitto Tire's website for the Terra Grappler.

BTW, how do you like that Leer cap? I'm wanting to get one just like your... Model 100XQ?

It has stock sized tires on it right now (Coopers) - LT265 70 R17

I don't know what model the Leer cap is...it was on there when I bought it and the model/serial plate is all scraped up, so I can't tell. [edit - I just looked it up on the Leer website and yes - it's a 100XQ - http://www.leer.com/uploads/fordcapsweb.pdf ]

I like it - it's painted to match the truck. There's a leak in the passenger window somewhere that I have to chase down and the guy from whom I bought the truck had the third brakelight wired up like a retard. He had the dome and brake wired in a way that it all back-fed into the lighting system and the brake lights were on 100% of the time. I got that straightened out though.

Yeah, that's a nice cap... Leer's top of the line. Hopefully others will chime in and provide more recommendations.
