I've read a few threads of people doing the MAF swap with the A4OD and using the trans controller from Baumann that allows for manual shifting with the cruise control buttons and allows for a secondary shift mapping for towing versus a stock one for the street.
How good does it work? I have a 97 F250 4x4 with the OBDI system (no port inside to plug into) and have been told that I can use ECM from a OBDI mass-air truck and a Moates controller to run the trans and wouldn't need this. But it seems like a pretty trick item. Pros and cons of either way? Anyone have an extra one they want to sell cheap? Or the Moates controller?
From Conanski-A far easier solution would be to use an OBD-1 mass air truck computer and a tuner such as the Moates module, it will plug right in to the harnes in the truck now and of course you'll have to add wires for the injectors and MAF meter, but you'll have the E4OD controls and you can recalibrate it for your motor so it really doesn't matter if it's a 5.0, 5.8, or 7.5 version to start with.
